Inspiration comes in ALL sizes
Hello World! I'd like for you to meet a very brave and strong toddler named Braylen Savage.
Braylen looks like any other two year old but it's something very special about this one besides his name. Braylen was actually expected not to even make birth, but let me tell you something he showed them!
On January 19, 2015 around noon eager to make it in the world, Braylen Jamar Savage was born! Weighing only 1lb and 4oz! Upon his delivery Doctors discovered the placenta was
fractured (Braylen wasn't getting enough blood or oxygen circulating) and it caused a decline in his development. His mother Breauna White, was immediately informed of the complications he'd face. Although they described him as a miracle baby. They had no faith in him, the irony.
Miss White knew from how underdeveloped Braylen was she'd more than likely wouldn't take him home that night but possibly soon. Unfortunately Braylen stayed in the hospital for his first 97 days of life! And 70 of those days he spent on a breathing machine. During his stay both of his lungs had collapsed on several occasions, he had a hole in his heart, both of his femur bones were broken, and even had jaundice from birth.
After hearing all of the battles Braylen was fighting, it was understandable why the doctors had low faith but it wasn't acceptable! Considering during Miss White's pregnancy her placenta was very thick and the cord was very thin, it was miraculous that he was even breathing! Miss White was told on three different occasions that he may not be able to walk because of his broken femur bones and that he may not be able to see or hear due to him failing his sense test each time tested.
Braylen was released from the hospital on April 27, 2015, with .1% oxygen level and 6 different daily medications. But his hospital days were long from over! Braylen had appointments every week varying for different troubles. This little man was less than a year old and had already faced more hardship than many of us could imagine! Braylen has had his testicle hernia removed, his tonsils shaven down, surgery in his right eye for the muscle being too weak, 3 other major surgeries, minor seizures with treatment and was instructed to have physical therapy from 5 months old to 1 years of age which he did!
Currently, Braylen is beating the odds and doing just fine! He's developing at a more normal rate than they predicted.
Braylen's vision is gradually preceding with great results from his surgery. As well walking, running, climbing, jumping, etc that they expected he might do due to his broken femur bones as an infant.
I don't know about you guys but I believe any person, no matter how young or old they may be, has something they all can teach! This little guys knows a whole lot about not giving up and putting up a big fight! I can't wait to see what his strengths manifest into!
You're a survivor Braylen Savage! May you continue to grow stronger with each day. And may no battle defeat you because you are amazing!
