Hello World, meet Derek Dandridge!

Derek Dandridge is a 21 year old, EMU student and Detroit native! Derek had a dream that he's now in the process of fulfilling! That's extremely AWESOME, right?! Just two years ago Derek started to branch off into photography teaching himself how to strengthen his own natural talents into lethal perfection. Although since an adolescent, Derek had a fond interest to art, no matter the form. Rather it was nature, from a painting, album covers, or tv. Derek says one of the shows that earn his fandom was BET's Access Granted; where they show the process of making a music video.

This interest has led him to work with artist around the city of Detroit. Of course like any other thriving adult, his humble childhood played a major part in his embellishments. Derek decided to not wait for it but to instead MAKE IT HAPPEN! Since Derek has taken off in his pursuit of happiness, he's been involved with local artists, local businesses, school activities and as well as even creating his own projects for the public to see.

Derek plans to give the public something real with his work. Derek's main goal would be to use his photography to shed light on certain groups of people who have no outlet to speak. He goes on to say "many people do this with music but I want to do it visually. I want to create pieces that will be around for years to come." I chose to highlight Derek Dandridge because I believe in his talent and skills! I've seen his beginning and I'm excited to see how far he WILL go! I've had a chance to shadow him in the past, and I would definitely say he's very passionate and very focused about his work.

Derek took it upon hisself to showcase art at The Baltimore Gallery, entitled "CAPTURE THE CULTURE!" The name alone give chills because it so powerful but the pictures have even more meaning. And with a city like Detroit holding as much talent as it holds everyone deserves a chance to be seen and heard! Let him tell your story without saying a word. The best part of Derek story is that he's self taught, self made and self established!
