It's no secret that we all get a little nervous when we have to make our first impression on an employer. Sometimes we forget to do or say something and we blame the reason for not getting the job. Well you don't have to beat yourself up about it! Here are some helpful tips I came up with to help you on interview day! - Dress for the job - DO NOT BE LATE - Research the company (name, year built and mission statement) - Bring a extra resume and cover letter - Prepare a introductory speech (Ya know that "Tell me about yourself?" question) - Analyze your strengths and weaknesses beforehand (employer may ask) - Have 3 professional references available to give (name, phone, email) - Be yourself! - Take your time don't rush yourself - Ask questions (Employers like when you seem interested) - Sit up straight - Make sure to make eye contact from time to time especially while listening - Think of why you want the job - Answer every question carefully and thoughtfully - Show your personality especially if it's one of greatest assets - Avoid watching the clock - Give a firm handshake
